America’s Hidden Health Crisis: Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
March 2 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Millions have gone missing in the healthcare system, due to lack of research and awareness of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) and Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME) in the medical community. We are now changing the tide by engaging in important conversation around CFS and ME. Patients, advocates, doctors, and researchers are coming together worldwide to conduct new studies and treatments to help with CFS and ME.
US healthcare providers – including doctors, nurses, and social workers – can now watch Unrest and receive 2 hours continuing medical education credits through the American Medical Women’s Association and Indiana University School of Medicine, in partnership with #MEAction.
This free event raises awareness about a neuroimmune disease largely forgotten by the medical community. This event is free and open to the public at Soma Vida Wellness in partnership with Austin Wellness Collaborative, Lemons to Mint Health Coaching and the national advocacy non-profit ME Action.
What to expect:
1. Opening remarks by Ashley Maltz, MD, MPH – Austin Wellness Collaborative
2. Documentary showing, Unrest, 1 hour and 38 minutes.
3. Watch a 10 minute clip about the diagnosis and management of ME.
4. Closing remarks by, Shelly Haines – Health Coach & CFS Patient, Lemons to Mint.
5. Take the online quiz

Unrest is an important and profound film. Not only does it shed light on the realities of living with ME/CFS, it also inspires providers to think about how they can best support patients and reconnect with the reasons they first choose their healing profession.
